Hey y'all!
I launched my Instagram account, Cooking With The First Ladies after I stumbled onto the First Ladies Cookbook: Favorite Recipes of All the Presidents of the United States at a thrift store back in 2019. At the suggestion of my husband, I cooked my way through all the First Ladies while also focusing on their biographies, accomplishments, and culture of their time period. In 2020, I began providing virtual content for the National First Ladies Library and currently continue with quarterly virtual live programs. I have also extensively researched the Roaring ‘20s, with a particular focus on the “First Ladies” of the Women’s Suffrage movement, and the tools they used to get the right to vote, which included Suffrage Cookbooks. Currently, I have began to dive into the Manhattan Project and the role the women of Oak Ridge, TN played through cooking through the cities cookbook, Cooking Behind the Fence and have recently developed some content with Matt Mullins and the American Museum of Science and Energy. I actually have no professional culinary training, just a degree in History, but have enjoyed presenting women’s history in a fun, unique way.
